This small-batch hickory nut oil is made from hand-foraged Yellowbud Hickory nuts gathered in the forests of mid-Missouri. Also known as Bitternut Hickory (Carya cordiformis), this species produces thin-shelled nuts with a high oil content, making it especially well-suited for cold-pressed artisan oil.
The oil has a smooth, buttery, nutty flavor that shines in dressings, for dipping bread, drizzling over vegetables, and even for high-heat cooking. Nutritionally, hickory oil is similar to olive oil, with a balanced blend of fatty acids including oleic, linoleic, linolenic, palmitic, and stearic acids. It also has a high smoke point of around 450°F.
It is like olive oil but LOCAL!
